The Boys in the Paper

July 10th, 2007

One last bit from the trip to New Mexico. My mom and I were in a shop, while John and my Dad kept Ty company outside. Ty was entertaining his adoring fans, as usual. As we were finishing up in the shop, my mom said to me, “Ty is having his picture taken.” I told her that Ty is always having his picture taken, then turned around and saw that the photographer was from the local paper. (I had seen her at an event the previous day, and recognized her.) Sure enough, Ty and John made the Daily Press in Silver City. I wasn’t mentioned, of course, but they were after a pic and a short blurb. Not really enough space to do a whole write-up. ;-)

That’s a really good picture of Ty. I wish they had put his whole name (Tyrone Powers) though. ‘Cuz it’s better that way.

Oh, and John is cute, too. :P I like how he has his jaw jutted forward like that. Hehe. Makes me giggle.

Watching Big Brother now. Yes. I like it. Make fun. Whatever ;)

Actually, for the record, Ty’s official, registered, name is “Waverine’s Astos”. And while we chose the call name based on Tyrone Power, it has pretty much been “Ty” from the very beginning. We usually tell people it is “short for Tyrone” when they are trying to figure out if we said Ty or Tiny. (No, seriously, you’d be surprised how many people think we are just that dumb…haha.) The whole bit has become routine, just like the rest of the Q&A sessions.

Ty seems so interested in John’s story - perhaps John should tell ALL of us what they were talking about?

Mister Ty and I were discussing the finer points of a good pastrami sandwich. He, having never actually had a pastrami sandwich, became increasingly interested in what I had to say as I described what could be considered a “good” sandwich, including a crisp leaf of lettuce and a tasty slice of provolone cheese.

Suffice to say, I had to promise Ty a pastrami sandwich in the near future. Fortunately, he has a horrible memory for such things…
